Practice Areas of Emphasis: Family Law, Business Law, Administrative Law, Criminal Defense and Litigation. Steve joined the firm in 1989 and represents clients in both Federal and State courts. He is currently President of the Sixth District Bar Association Family Law Section, demonstrating exceptional expertise with cases involving domestic relations, child support and custody. Steve also actively advises and represents companies and corporate clients on various matters of business, including business disputes and debt collection. Steve’s practice also emphasizes administrative law. He handles disputes arising under the jurisdiction of the Shoshone-Bannock Tribes, Fort Hall Indian Reservation, where he is a member of the Tribal Court Bar and a former judge in the Shoshone-Bannock Tribal Court. His experience in administrative and criminal law includes serving as Deputy and Chief-Deputy Prosecutor for Idaho’s Bannock County, and a relationship as legal counsel to Idaho Governor John V. Evans. As counsel to Governor Evans, Steve helped write legislation that includes the Governor’s Emergency Powers Act, and Idaho’s current statute on products liability. He served as the governor’s liaison to the Department of Law Enforcement, the Department of Corrections, the Department of Insurance, the Supreme Court, the Land Board, and the Board of Examiners. Steve secured this important client relationship in 1979 when, as an aggressive, young attorney, he was trying and winning a remarkable number of major felony litigation cases against more seasoned trial attorneys. Steve counsels and represents many clients in mediation and is an Idaho State Bar approved child custody and child support mediator. He is also an active attorney for the Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) program.
